I began learning about the body when I was 6 years old and started practicing martial arts. The awareness I developed led me to start practicing meditation and listening to my body by the age of 9 years old. From there I studied Reiki, which I have now been practicing for 16 years. My passion to understand the intricacies of the body led me to start massage therapy school at East West School of The Healing Arts.
What fascinates me the most are the intricate connections of fascial tissue as it winds through the body (these are the connective tissue sheaths that surround and connect different body parts). The Structural bodywork and Neuromuscular modalities I utilize in my sessions work directly at these fascial connections.
When I work with patients, I pay close attention to their posture and how their body parts communicate through movement. When parts aren’t moving in coordination, fascia gets constricted and contributes to adhesions (‘knots’) and trigger points. By addressing this communication dysfunction in the fascia, my patients notice improved mobility and reduced pain following their treatment.
Over my years practicing massage therapy, I have found that patients need individualized treatment. I tailor my therapy to include what will be most effective and tolerated for each patient. Therapies I use include: myofascial release, deep tissue therapy, and Swedish massage.
I am very happy to be working in an integrative clinic, as I find patients meet their goals when they have a team of experts at their side. I look forward to supporting you in your health.
